Yes, to all of this. I am solidly in the Gen X portion of our population, a 52 year old woman who has been reading romance since I was 12. I hate this denigration and disrespect of the genre - especially the legacy of historical romance. (which if you listen to all the pundits, is apparently dead). Publishing houses are increasingly putting their resources behind a select number of authors fueled by Booktok recommendations, and the lack of marketing for mid-list authors is a detriment to us all. As a hybrid author, I see this play out on a daily spiral.
