Introducing: Romance Novel Collection
Because a True Collector Collects Collections
Hello Shelf Lovely!
I’m excited to share a new project that will be hosted here on the Shelf Love Substack - Romance Novel Collection.
This announcement has three goals:
Share this cool new project and what it’s about
Let you know how to opt out if you’re just here for the romance discourse
Invite you to submit your romance collection
What is Romance Novel Collection?
I am a diehard romance novel collector and it has led me to connect with so many other cool like-minded people. I thought it would be fun to centralize all the amazing romance novel collections, create a space for romance collecting nerds, and share my own collecting journey.
Romance Novel Collection will be a section within the Shelf Love Substack — I’ve chosen to separate it from the “main feed” as content about collecting may not be what Shelf Love subscribers signed up for. Subscribers can choose to opt out of this content - more on that in a bit.
Romance Novel Collection will focus on the what, why, and how of romance collections — the goal of this sub-publication is to build a community of like-minded people who are interested in learning about collecting romance from each other.
I hope to feature romance novel collections with a variety of themes and from people with varying perspectives and collection goals.
I’m defining the scope of this project to encompass a curated selection of physical objects that can include romance novel books, art, and ephemera from any time period. Collections can also be romance novel adjacent, such as romance comics, magazines, or movies.
Collections can be any size — the only requirement is that the collection have a coherent theme, however the collector defines it.
What if you’re just here for the romance discourse?
If you’re an existing Shelf Love subscriber, you can choose to opt out of “Romance Novel Collection” content and continue to receive the kind of romance discourse content you’ve come to expect.
You can do this at any time, so unless you absolutely hate romance collections, I’d recommend you take a chance on the first “real” post before deciding.
I totally get it, though, if you’re here for the romance discourse and would rather not receive posts from this new section. The reverse is true as well — some people may be really interested in the collecting stuff but less interested in the discourse.
I want you and your inbox to be happy!

Did somebody send you here to learn more about Romance Novel Collection? If you’re not already a subscriber, you should remedy that right now:
I never quite figured out how to publish my new podcasts to Substack, so FYI, you probably don’t currently get podcast notifications, even if that’s toggled on for you. Maybe I’ll fix that one day.
I’m super excited for these posts—such a fun idea! 🤩
